Discovering new fonts This is week 5 of Typography class and we have been exploring many aspects of the world of typefaces.   I am also more aware of the interesting typefaces out there. I discovered this beautiful font in a magazine (while at the dr.'s office). I wish I know the name. The typeface is the one used for the words: Kitchen, Open House, and Kitchen Trends.  Magazine: House Beautiful

Tracing Exercise  During week 4, We needed to trace three typefaces, one from each category: serif, sans serif, and script.  This exercise helped me identify the details in each category. I choose Baskerville Old Face, Gill Sans, and Mistral typefaces respectively.

Anatomy of Type We learned about the parts of type characters through an assignment called Anatomy of Type. I tried to be creative and at the same time clear in the message I wanted my poster to give.  I wanted the poster to be a little playful and friendly to read. I started with black, white, and red for the poster design; and ended with a soft yellow, orange, and blue color.  I managed to draw a curve line and used the type on a path tool for the word Typography.   I used the orange color to highlight the parts in each font. It took me a while, but I organized all the details and descriptions.  I was a little confused about the letter T.  I wasn't sure if the Bar was also part of the serif. After reviewing the week's information again, I found out the serif area on the T is not included on the Bar.
